Living in Supernatural Health

Healthy Happy African American WomanThere is no lack of information available in today’s world around the best way to create radiant health.  It’s all over the Internet, on television, and in magazines.  Some of the information is great; some kind of makes you scratch your head in wonder.  But there are a few areas that aren’t talked about very much, and sometimes those are the very areas that may be holding you back from living in supernatural health.

First, let me describe what “supernatural health” really means.  It’s a way of being in this world that creates whole person health.  It means to “prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers”.  (see 3 John 2)   The definition of prosperity actually means, “nothing missing, nothing broken”.  Think of that phrase:  “nothing missing, nothing broken”.  Imagine that phrase being true about your health.  Practically speaking, what would that look like?  Here are just a few ways you can live in that kind of prosperous, supernatural health:

  • Love your body, just as it is, right now. No matter what it looks like to you, decide now to love the body God has given you.
  • Consider whether your outward actions are lining up with your inner guidance in all areas of your life, not just your health. Are you hearing that guidance and then taking action around what you hear so that your spirit and soul are in agreement with each other?  Stress comes into our lives when we’re living out of alignment with our soul.
  • Is there any unforgiveness in your heart? This one is huge because of how unforgiveness and bitterness affects us on every level – spirit, soul, and body.  If there is anyone in your life (including yourself!) you need to forgive or ask to receive forgiveness, take care of it as soon as possible.  Your health will thank you, trust me.
  • Are you eating the food that “loves you”? Consider your current diet.  And to keep from getting confused about all the nutritional advice out there, simply ask yourself this question.  “Am I eating foods in the most natural form possible and are they foods God created?”  The more you can say yes to this question, the better off you’ll be in your physical body.
  • Do you laugh, find joy in life, and make time for fun?
  • Do you go to bed at night thankful for all you’ve been given? Even if you’re in serious need, there is always something you can be grateful for in your day.  I remember a time when I was thankful my car ran another day because I had zero money to get it fixed if it broke down and I certainly didn’t have the money to buy a new one.
  • Do you move your body in a way that helps it stay flexible and strong, but do it in way that is fun and exciting for you? I’m not talking about trudging through a workout you hate, or going to a gym (which is kind of like going to the dentist for me) if you hate going to a gym.  I’m talking about loving your body enough to practice beautiful, kind, loving, self-discipline so you can be your best.

It’s so easy when it comes to our health to get caught up in a much narrower focus like weight loss or fat reduction without really seeing yourself as a beautiful, treasured, man or woman of God who is “housing” the Holy Spirit.  Certainly being at the right weight for your body is important to your health, as is having a healthy amount of fat on your body, but those are but a portion of what it means to live in abundant, supernatural health.  So start seeing yourself walking in supernatural, “nothing missing, nothing broken” health as you put these principles into practice!
